We talk a lot in our posts about perfecting your swimming technique but when your ultimate goal is speed there’s a point when you can focus too much on your drills and kick sets forgetting about your swimming strength. This can result in you losing motivation and most of all in little progress after some time. So the simple tip from us is to share workout time between strength and endurance part and technique drills.<\/p>\n

As you know we always try to give you tips and advice you can use and implement by yourself but this time we want to also remind you of the importance of professional guidance from a coach. This might sound counterintuitive but this is extremely important at the very beginning of your swimming journey when your first habits are formed. Habits that are very hard to change later. So spend few hours with a professional coach to get some tips on proper technique and the most efficient way of developing both style and speed in the pool.<\/p>\n

Of course, if we talk about building strength we have to mention 'the gym in the pool’ – paddles. We know and understand how hard and annoying it is at the beginning so we advise, to begin with, short 50 m sets until you feel more comfortable and then mix it up with longer sets. This will make a huge difference in your swimming strength we promise!<\/p>\n
One last torture tool for swimmers that will change your life is swimming with the band around your ankles. We are very much aware how hard it is and how discouraging it may seem at the beginning. But this will do miracles for your rotation, catch, core strength, and rhythm. so start small and build your swimming strength slowly with the band.<\/p>\n
